Nokia 5800 v21.0.25 and web

I have recently dusted off my 5800 and updated to the latest firmware over the air (ota). The download was a suprising 4 mb where when I have uswd pc suite it has downloaded over 100mb. Why the latter cannot use the small files, 4mb is better than 100mb over 3g when considering costs!

The download was quick and within ten minutes the phone had rebooted, installed and retained my data.

The touch seems more responsive and web works better but it still has some way to go. When browsing on some sites it takes ages to render them sometimes just as long without pictures being displayed. As I use a phone for internet this is still not acceptable so the phone will be switched off again until the next update.

My e63 which cost less than the 5800 has more storage and ram and works better for web. Whilst I keep going back to the 5800 as I love the touch interface I will not get rid of the phone just yet. There are other browser such as opera mini, ucweb or bolt but these don't use the touch interface too well. That just leaves nokia to pull their socks up and get on and fix it or opera to come up with a better solution.

The 5800 like the n95 in its infancy will require several more updates to fix the storage and memory issues. But for now I will wait and see.....

    I have a N95 and with a 4GB microSD HC class 6 transcend card it gives me HELL to play mp3 files. when i remove the card fone works fine! i can play the mp3s ok through "file manager" application (one at a time) on the N95, just NOT through "music player"!constantly hangs. what is wrong? i put the music as all flat files under the sounds folder. all mp3s are in vbr format. all have clean id3 tags. is it an id3 tag issue? or a sd card issue?

    any ideas? its driving me batty. and consequently i dont feel too happy about my $499 N95! i have reformated and tried...same results.

The word "Smart"

Smart - A word that has been attached to electronic devices also know as gadgets to make them look like they have some form intelligence or have clever abilities.  From smart TVs, smart phones, smart kettles, smart fridges, smart ovens to smart glasses what they all have in common is a feature or features that take them beyond their initial concept.     But how does one define smart and does adding extra features such as connectivity, control options or enhanced functionality actually make the device smart.   We've seen telephones from their infancy in the early days that were wired at home (and still are) to being carried around by everyone and from which we now plan, communicate, record  and coordinate our every  lives to the extent if  the "smart phone" is not with us; we cannot function or we forget what it "used" to be like without having the constant need to record our everyday movements or the check in with what is "happening" in the world.   We

The Fruit Watch - First day opinions

I've been a user of smart watches for the past 2-3 years, first backing the pebble on kickstarter, the cookoo , purchasing a sony smart watch one ,  purchasing a pebble steel , backing the pebble time  but always said on twitter I'd not get an apple watch, that it will be like a bracelet once the battery runs out and that pebble is really the one for me given the multi OS support (android and IOS). Well eating my own words I ordered the apple watch on 10/4 at 08:05 am and it was due to arrive on 26/5.  Another person I followed on twitter who lives within my area ordered there's at 08:02 and got it on the 24/4.  On Tuesday 5/5 I had an email to expect delivery on 6/5 and yesterday it arrived.
