Digital Britian

The following report on Digital Britain that read about on BBC News is 245 pages of drivel. It was commissioned in October 2008 and is still yet to be completed. From skimming over the report it looks like a preface on what they intend to do in the actual report.


My fear is by the time it is completed and actioned it will be far out of date and as such will require another report. Whilst they are claiming 2mb broadband links for everyone other countries such as South Korea already have 50mb.


Whilst companies such as Virgin are putting fibre into the home, BT are still using copper, are asking for more money yet still take £12.50 per month rental for a copper wire to deliver these services. This in itself is too old hat and I don't have a choice if I just want broadband and not telephone.


Until their monopoly and stranglehold on our telecoms is removed I believe we will never be leading the Digital revolution merely following.

Google's answer to Push Sync

What is unusual that they make use of an exchange service for syncing with the iphone and windows mobile handsets using activesync. However, this does not work with Mail For Exchange but Google says it will support this soon - http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138784&topic =15014 I have previously tried services like Goosync and have found them hideous especially when syncing across several devices with different OS. 2012 My Year in a mini - review

2012 has now gone and we are officially in 2013 narrowly avoiding the end if the world on the 21st of December - End of the world – as it didn't happen | Science | guardian.co.uk I wrote this piece a month ago and thought I'd better post it. For technology in the Apple world we have seen the iPhone 5, IPad 4th generation and iPad mini and I expect to see Apple release the same products again with minor iterations in 2013. They will be billed with the usual hype that its the best thing ever, you need it and like sheep I will notably follow and but them. I tried the Galaxy note last year and it was a good experiment and whilst android had moved on with the number of applications available. I still found there were bugs with Bluetooth car kits, I needed to root the phone to use it to its full potential with Tasker and it was plagued with battery life issues.
